Pauline Hall graduated from the Royal Academy of Music and taught in schools and privately. While living and teaching in Harrogate, she felt the need for a piano tutor that made learning genuinely fun, progressing at the pace of her slowest learner, starting by writing little tunes in her pupils' notebooks, which formed the basis of Tunes for Ten Fingers and, eventually, the entire Piano Time series.
