Take the hassle out of keeping your mic quiet with the D’Addario Mic Mute, an infrared sensor that mutes your microphone automatically whenever nobody is in front of it. When you step up, it switches the mic on; when you step away, it cuts the signal, so you get clean audio without feedback, stage bleed, or background noise creeping into the mix.

Setup is simple. It plugs in line between your XLR microphone and your cable, with a 3-pin XLR input and output, and runs on 48V phantom power, so no batteries or extra power supply are needed. A dial on top lets you set how far from the mic the cut-off point sits, with detection out to around 24" (61cm), and a red LED shows at a glance when the mic is live. A bypass button overrides the mute whenever you want the mic permanently on.

It suits mics on stands, which makes it a great fit for gigs, theatre productions, speeches, school performances, places of worship, and looping setups, anywhere you want hands-free muting without someone riding the mixer.
