Specifically designed and patented in 1962 by Rotosound founder James How for Jim Burns's legendary Black Bison bass, Tru Bass strings are the closest you'll get to genuine double bass tone from an electric bass guitar. A black nylon ribbon is flat wound around a high-output stainless steel core, delivering a warm, mellow, upright-style voice with a smooth feel and notably low tension.

Famously used by Sir Paul McCartney on the Beatles' Abbey Road, these strings remain a favourite among jazz, fusion, dub, and reggae players, and work especially well on fretless bass. Distinctive black wrap and yellow silk ends give them a classic, recognisable look.
