Jaw Harp

One of the oldest instruments in the world, the jaw harp (also known as a jew's harp or mouth harp) produces its distinctive twanging tone by plucking a flexible metal tongue while holding the frame gently against the teeth. Changing the shape of your mouth and throat lets you shift the instrument's overtones, creating an entrancing range of pitches and rhythmic effects from a single reed.

Compact, portable, and genuinely easy to pick up, it's a great introduction to rhythm and resonance for players of any age, while also rewarding more advanced technique for those who want to explore its full expressive range. Popular across countless musical traditions worldwide, the jaw harp remains a favourite for its simplicity, portability, and hypnotic sound.
